Social Skills Group: Two Bad Ants
This week in my 3rd-5th grade social skills group, we’re going to revisit the topic of perspective-taking. I wanted to use one of my favorite books, Two Bad Ants with all of my groups, but it’s just too high level for my younger kids. The possibilities with this book are endless, but it really lends itself to perspective-taking because the story is from the ants’ perspective. The cup of coffee is a steaming hot brown lake, the spoon is a giant silver scoop, and the dewdrops are giant pools of water.
Our group is only 15 minutes, 4 days a week, so here’s the plan:
Monday – Read Two Bad Ants
Tuesday – review perspective-taking
Wednesday – pre-write: What would happen if the 2 Bad Ants came to our classroom?
Thursday – write story
Should be interesting!
